BIO
Living in locations as varied as England, Texas and British Columbia has given Louise plenty of inspiration for her landscapes.
To create her paintings she first stretches a piece of silk in a hoop, then renders background elements of the composition using a small brush and silk paint.
Once the painting has been fixed with an iron, Louise embroiders foreground elements of the landscape, most often by hand. Some pieces also feature free motion machine embroidery, or scraps of hand-painted ribbon or Tyvek. The effect is somewhere between two- and three-dimensional and with a sheen unique to silk and thread.
Louise is a member of Craft Council of British Columbia and West Vancouver Community Arts Council. She lives in Burnaby, Canada, with her husband.
Her work is offered for sale at CCBC Shop & Gallery on Granville Island, Vancouver, BC.
